Best mom ever!

Well... probably not.

Last Sunday was Katie's baptism.  During the preceding mass, Owen was out of sorts and felt like he had a fever.  Jeremy took him to get some ibuprofen and met us back at the church.  We drove back home later that afternoon while he slept most of the way.

The following morning he seemed to be doing better and was not carrying a fever, so I assumed that it was a virus that ran its course.  On Friday, Ben complained that his throat hurt.  Jeremy was in Miami for his yearly managers meeting, so I took the wait and see approach.

Fast forward to Sunday, a full week later,  Ben said his throat was still hurting.  His lymph nodes seemed swollen so I took him to the Take Care Clinic to see a nurse practitioner.  His strep test came back positive, therefore I had them swab Owen while we were there.  Turns out they both have strep throat.

If my boys would just act sick- I would have an easier time determining when a doctor visit is necessary.  Instead they have been running around like normal.  Poor babies.

Summer Fun

What a difference a year makes.

The boys have always enjoyed each other, but they are fantastic together now.  They are so much fun to watch.  Yep you heard me...watch.  I do not have to be in the middle of playtime constantly since they are able to come up with such fun adventures on their own.  They are both into superheroes and it is quite entertaining to listen to them decide which role they are going to fill and how they are going to stop the bad guys.

Owen is out of the stroller and out of diapers.  I am a little sad at how fast he has grown up on me, but the ease at which we can get out and about is pretty amazing.  He is still his easy going self and it is wonderful hearing him build his language skills.  I am constantly caught off guard when he speaks in full sentences.

Owen is Ben's right hand man, and Ben in turn is mine.  He is quite helpful to have around and has become increasingly independent.  He loves drawing, cutting and taping things together.  Every minute of the summer would be spent at the pool if it were up to Ben.  He has become quite brave this year.  He will cannonball of the side of the pool, see how long he can stay underwater, and is learning to swim.

I took them to the Deanna Rose Farmstead this morning. I had almost forgotten what pigs smell like when it's 89 degrees and muggy, but I got a reminder today. We didn't stay long because of the heat, but the boys did enjoy themselves.

Zzzzzz

It looks like it has been a while since I've updated.   But honestly, not much has been going on here.  We have been without a routine since the end of the school year and I am acutally enjoying it.

Most of our days have been spent splashing around the neighborhood pool.  Other than that, I've got nothing.  Yep- we are that boring!
