Into the groove

We survived our first week of the new routine.

Owen and I have Ben to school by 9am, which is sometimes a feat in itself, then we are off to the gym. Owen plays with the other kids in the childcare room while I'm pumping iron upstairs. There are not too many people working out at this time of the morning and those who are tend to be other mom's like me and the senior set, so I am not being intimidated by ripped bodies admiring themselves in the mirror. I will need some motivation to keep going since every muscle in my body is upset and screaming at me.

After the workout, Owen has me all to himself. It always amazes me how much the boys play together with little intervention and input, but it is really wonderful to have one on one time. Owen and I worked on putting together wooden puzzles and animal noises. When we were out and about running errands, I was able to label things around us and chat with him. It seems that when big brother is along, he tends to dominate the conversation and I don't have the opportunity to get a word in edge wise, let along show Owen the pretty flowers, trees and shoes that we see along the way.

We picked up Ben at 1pm via the car line each day and were excited to hear about his time away from us. The first week they spent learning about insects.
Ants are very strong, Kaleigh and Gabe have been stung by wasps but not at school, and "that little girl" found a walking stick on the playground.

He played "Bolt" with Kayleigh and Aubrey on the playground every afternoon. They make up their own scenes from the movie, and some don't always have a happy ending.

He liked the bologna sandwich, but not the pizza or taco salad the following days at lunch. The fruit is pretty good, but he wishes that they had gummy bears.
Ben starts back up with speech therapy next week. His speech has improved noticeably since he started, so I am eager to see what Ms. Jennifer thinks about it.

Ben has Friday's off, so I'm planning on taking them to the gym with me when we get out of our jammies. After my workout, I thought I would let them burn off some of their energy at the nearby playground.
