Last Friday has been my favorite day of the summer so far.
We usually do "Friday Night-Pizza Night" in our neighborhood. We get together at one of our houses, order pizza in and let the kids play while the grown-ups relax with a beverage or two. To change things up I asked if they would like to bring over something to throw on the grill. Which was has since been dubbed "Bring Your Own Meat Night".
I started the day cutting up the fruit for a salad when the phone rang. Kim next door was making cookies while watching our friend Leigh Ann's kids and needed brown sugar. The kids came to the door for the sugar and ran back over to Kim's, leaving her son, Jimmy, behind. Once Kim realized that Jimmy was missing, they came back for him with an invite for Ben to come over too. He was already half way there when I got the thumbs up from Kim.
Later the kids ran back in asking for hot dog buns since they were having lunch next door. I couldn't help but laugh at the kids running back and forth between the houses. I LOVED IT!!! As it was nearing nap time Ben was back looking for his swim trunks...Kim was getting out the water slide.
My friend Mindy was in town so she stopped by and we went to lunch. After enjoying a rare meal without kids (Jeremy was with Owen) Mindy and I went over to Kim's to check on the kids and her sanity. The kids were still going strong and surprisingly still getting along!!
It was time to start the grill before I knew it. Jessica and Mike, friends from Springfield, IL, were coming for the weekend and due to arrive any minute. It was one of those busy days that seem nothing but relaxing when surrounded by friends and food.
