I had a meeting with Ben's teacher on Wednesday. He will be ending his preschool career next month and she wanted to give me an update on where he is academically. Let me tell you, I am really proud of this kid.
Yesterday was Kindergarten Roundup for our school district. When we were there to register we were given a tour of the Elementary School by a fourth grader. Ben was a bit hesitant at first but relaxed by the time we were shown the library and the playground.
I was doing great until we were taken to the cafeteria. I swallowed the lump in my throat and pushed back the tears as our guide excitedly talked about the lunch line and which tables the kindergarteners sit at. It is hard to imagine my little guy navigating through all the choices and entering his lunch number into the keypad all on his own.
We were taken to the classroom next and met two of the kindergarten teachers. Both were very sweet and oddly enough have the same last name.
He was given a packet of things for us to work on this summer. Ben is much more excited about starting school in the fall now that he has been there. I am so glad I will have all summer to spend with him and Owen. I'm sure by the end of August, I will be begging for school to start!
Today I fell down the basement stairs (again). The laptop did not survive this round. The bouncy house almost blew away this afternoon...
But the sun IS shining today so it could be worse!
