His story is about super heroes (naturally) and at first Jeremy and I were concerned that he just wrote down an episode of the Super Hero Squad and I then fretted about plagiarism. We went so far as to go through the second season to make sure the major plot points were different. The next day I was back at school for Ben's IEP meeting (no more speech!) and discussed my concerns. I just thought that if another kid wrote a story entirely on their own, without the help of television, that it should be chosen. Mrs. Bryant laughed at me and gently reminded me that Ben is just in kindergarten. We'll worry about plagiarism a little later. Now she knows that I might be a tad neurotic.
The reception for the Young Authors and Artists was last Tuesday at another elementary school. Ben was a little nervous about not knowing anyone else there and having to sit up front without us. Their was a guest speaker who was an author that talked to the kids about how he started out as a writer and he got to go onstage to get his certificate. It was an awful lot like a graduation ceremony and the thought of that was enough to make me a little teary eyed. It was a great evening for him and he is still quoting the theme that was drilled home by the speaker, "I can do that!"
Since the blog is to record stuff that we don't want to forget, I'm going to include the story here.
The super hero said we're fighting the bad guys and their leader, Dr. Doom and his minions, Mo-Dok and Abomination. The super heroes won the fight for the fractals, so they were happy.
Then the bad buys were in prison, the super heroes locked them up. Then they broke out of prison. Then they got the fractals.
Then Hulk came and he smashed them to the ground. Then iron man used his lasers to destroy Dr. Doom and his minions.
Wolverine sliced open Dr. Doom's mask. Thor used his thunder then they were destroyed. They were happy forever. Now the bad guys were in prison again.
The Super Hero Squad was very happy for once and for all. So, in Super Hero City the hele-carrier was flying.
The End
That's a lot of smashing, slicing and destroying! We just might watch a little too much television.
