Party Recap

Owen's second birthday party was W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L!

The party started Thursday with the arrival of Grandma Guthrie and Aunt Sherie.  We watched the kids jump around in the bounce house with the neighbors until it was almost dark.  When we came in, the barrage of birthday gifts began.

Grandma brought Ben's gifts too, so we had a floor full of Transformers, action figures and transportation for Spiderman.  Ben was eager to open the presents that Aunt Sherie brought, but we held him off until the next morning.

One would have thought that it was Christmas.  Ben had his present opened before any of us were up the next morning.  He surprisingly left Owen's alone, but was excited about his new Leapster.  When he helped Owen open his gift, Ben was giddy.  It was the coveted Bat Cave.  His exact words were "I've wanted this my whole life!"  They have since resumed their roles as Batman and Robin which causes an identity crisis of sorts with Owen.  If you ask him if he is Owen, he'll respond, "No, I Robba".

Grandma and Papa Uebinger arrived Friday evening followed by Greg, Steph, John and Emily.  We had a houseful- but made it work!

Owen was adorable at his party last Saturday but didn't really grasp that the day was all about him- until it was time to sing Happy Birthday.  (He stops me when I sing to him by saying "NO- Mama" and will try to place his hand over my mouth.  Even a two year old knows that I can't carry a tune...)  He started to stop me from singing then realized that everyone was singing to him.

It was great being surrounded by family and friends.  The neighborhood kids ran around the back yard and jumped up and down in the bounce house enjoying a beautiful November day.  It was a perfect way to celebrate our little man turning two.

Congrats to Aunt Stephanie!!! She won the euchre tournament that began as soon as the birthday party came to a close. I didn't have a proper trophy to give her so props here will have to do...
