In the know

While my parents were here for the weekend, they took the boys outside to play in the snow. They built a snowman, made snow angels and enjoyed chasing each other in the yard. I went outside to snap a few pictures and quickly headed back into the warmth of the house.

I'm glad that they enjoyed themselves. Really-I am. But now they know. They now know that they can go outside and play when it is too cold for my comfort. They will ask and I will try to talk them out of it. They will whine and I will try to find something fun to do inside that doesn't require ten extra layers of clothing. They will have a meltdown and I just might cave...you know?

The rest of the weekend was spent putting together puzzles.  While I was at the mall getting Owen measured for new shoes I picked up a puzzle for Ben.  He has been obsessed with putting them together by himself all week.  Ben was eager to show Grandma and Grandpa his new skills.

Mom suggested that Jeremy and I go out alone. Without the kids!  I took about two seconds to put on shoes.  Since I'd neglected to pick up groceries, I suggested that they take the boys to the new McDonald's that has a play land.  Jeremy and I enjoyed a relaxing meal at one of our favorite places to eat without a drive through.  Turns out the trip to McDonald's was the highlight of the weekend for Ben and Owen.

And now they know they can actually go IN to eat and play.  At least they still don't know about Build a Bear or Chuck E. Cheese...
