All about Owen

In just a few short days he will no longer be a baby.  Owen is going to be a two year old.

The last few years have gone by very quickly.  Owen has gone from a teeny tiny baby to this awesome toddler in front of my very eyes (which are in fact welling up with tears now as I think about it).

This has been an amazing year for him.  He went from crawling and climbing to walking and running.  There is no chance of slowing him down now.  His squeals of laughter when being chased by his brother always bring a smile to my face.

His baby babbles have turned into recognizable words and even a few short sentences. Owen labels everything around him, "Look Mama, Car!" and is just so proud of himself  when doing so.  He now tries to repeat everything that is said to him.

When he was younger he would use sign language for please and thank you and now uses the words with almost every request.  I love to hear him say "your welcome" when I thank him for handing me something that he shouldn't have had in the first place.  He might end up being a little monster, but at least he will be a monster with manners.

Our little "O"man transitioned from a bottle to sippy cup shortly after his first birthday.  It is hard to believe that he is now learning how to drink out of a cup without a lid.  He loves macaroni and cheese and can't get seem to get enough spaghetti.  His table manners could use a little work, but he always shares his food with our dog, Layla.

His favorite cartoon is Dora The Explorer.  He loves finding the character Swiper during Dora and saying "Swiper no swiping".  I get tickled watching him say "Oh, man" along with the fox.

He went from his crib to a toddler bed without a struggle.  After brushing his teeth he picks out a bedtime book, usually Good Night Moon, There's a Wocket in My Pocket, or Farm (Push and Pop).  After the story, he will give me a good night kiss then help me turn out the light.  He kicks his leg up and down on the mattress as he settles into sleep.

His has remained a patient and easy going little guy who loves wooden puzzles and shape sorters.  He plays very well by himself and has quite the attention span.  His smile and laughter brighten any room he is in.

When Ben is around, Owen tries to be just like him.  He watches his big brother and will run when Ben runs and jump when Ben jumps.  I have a ball watching the two of them run around as superheroes.  I hope that they continue to be buddies throughout their lives.

I know that he will continue to grown and change but I don't want to forget all the little steps along the way.

It is all still absolutely amazing to me that this little bundle of life and love that I officially met for the first time at the hospital two years ago (and fell hopelessly in love with) has grown into this curious little guy with opinions and a personality all his own. I can not wait to see all the adventures he has in store us.
