Rain Rain Go Away

Maybe it's the weather.  A week without sunshine tends to make me a little tired and crabby too.

Ben has been out of sorts this week.  My normally sweet guy has been reduced to tears and screaming tantrums when things don't go his way.

Thursday was picture day at preschool.  I had him try on his outfit the night before to make sure that he could run, jump and do his crazy kung fu moves in it so there wouldn't be any issues with getting dressed the next morning.  He had fun running around and I breathed a sigh of relief as I got him ready for bed.

What was I thinking?  Of course there would be issues the next morning.

He wanted to wear regular clothes.  To Ben regular clothes are sweat pants and t-shirts.  Jeans and button down shirts are itchy and too tight and anything new is out of the question (unless it is new sweat pants and t-shirts).  Given the choice of wearing pajamas or the clothes that I laid out for him, he finally conceded.

I love his teacher, Ms. Claire.  When Owen and I walked Ben into his classroom, she says to Ben,  "You look so handsome, definitely ready to get your picture taken today."   I could have kissed her.  That is all he needed to hear and was off with his buddies, Chandler and Gabe, to check out the class frog who is no longer a tadpole.

He seemed to be in a great mood when I picked him up later in the afternoon.  I met him in the entry way where he was eager to show me his friend Ava.  While I was buckling him in, he shares with me that he is going to marry her.  We were discussing his day when he realized that we were taking a different route home and lost it.

Again with the wailing and tears.

Bring on the sunshine.
