As I've mentioned before Ben
loves a good party. I found out yesterday that he is also an amazing party planner. He has been trying to figure out what type of party I should have for my birthday since the Backyardigans extravaganza we threw for him in December. Sometime along the way he decided that it should be a Tinkerbell party since I'm a girl.
Jeremy left a gift and cards for me on the table before leaving for work yesterday. Luckily it was a preschool day or I would have been asked 3,152 more times if it was time to open the present. I did open the card from the boys in order to buy a little time. Ben had Jeremy write "Space Buddies" on it. According to Jeremy, Ben told him, "Mommy got that movie for me-she loves me and I love her too." Once again that little guy found a way to melt my heart...and get me to sit through that terrible movie without complaining.

I kept my promise to Ben by not starting the "party" until after he got home from school. Jeremy picked him up and took him to get a cake and some balloons (otherwise it just wouldn't be a
real party). Right before they came home, a huge bouquet of girlie helium balloons were delivered from the Burgins. I haven't had so many balloons for a party since I turned 16. (My mom surprised me by filling my room with them before I woke up!) Ben chose Tinkerbell and Hannah Montana mylar balloons surrounded by Kung-Fu Panda. They brought home Tinkerbell plates, a pretty party hat and even those blowout things. Apparently he was somewhat disappointed that the bakery didn't have a Tinkerbell cake, so he settled on one with the Disney princesses.

Our neighbors dropped by with flowers to see me (finally) get to open my present which was not just one but two green Snuggies (and two book lights). After determining which little boy would get which princess on his slice of cake-JT scored Ariel, Ben wanted the blond that I later found out was Sleeping Beauty, Jimmy requested Belle and Owen was tickled just to have a piece-they headed out to tai quon do and we went to Hobby Lobby.

I needed a couple of frames and mattes for posters I had ordered for the basement family room. While we were waiting on the mattes to be cut to size, Owen signed "I love you" back to me for the first time. This absolutely made my day and was the sweetest present that he could have given me. I definitely need to remember this when he is older and completely blanks on my birthday.
After we tucked the boys into bed and as I was all settled into my Snuggie, I thought that this was one of the best birthdays I've ever had. I received wonderful cards, phone calls and facebook posts from friends and family and thanks to Jeremy and the boys it was an all day celebration. I didn't even mind that the number on the cake would seem ancient to a teenager.
The neighbors are watching the boys tonight while Jeremy and I enjoy a rare dinner out where we don't have to escort anyone to the potty the minute the food arrives, cut food for anyone other than ourselves and dodge the "can't you control your children ?" glances from the table next to us. I really do feel like a princess.
Happy B-Day Sweetie!
