The sun came out to play

Mother Nature can be quite the tease. It's amazing what a difference a sunny day can make. I was able to coax Ben and Owen into the double stroller to take Layla (and my behind) for a walk on Wednesday. I was pumped to be able to enjoy the sunshine but halfway through our trek, Ben was ready to go home, Owen was sleeping and Layla looked like she'd had enough.

We headed back out after nap time to play with our friends. While the boys played, I was able to catch up with my friend,Kim, on the ongoings of the week. She was excited to hear that Layla would be a permanent member of our family. There wasn't really another option-we had pretty much fallen in love with her on day one. Kim laughed as I told her that I am contemplating on moving all the kitchen and dining room chairs to the garage for the time being. Owen can crawl onto the kitchen table and knock over a cup of Ben's milk in under 2.2 seconds. In the time it takes me to turn around he is standing up looking extremely proud of his accomplishment. It's not just the table, he has found a way to climb onto every surface that is more than two feet off the ground. He is walking so much more often lately. He is still extremely cautious with himself and will drop to crawl when he wants to get somewhere quickly. We took requests for juice boxes and once we were settled back in we started talking about the results from Ben's speech evaluation. I had a meeting earlier in the day with the speech therapist and found out that Ben is in need of speech therapy. Now that I know the results and what to look for, I can actually hear the omissions in his words. He does not use consonants (except for the letter R) at the end of a word. He leaves out most of them in the middle as well. I just received a call to set up classes 30 minutes twice a week. Since it's through the school district it is at no charge to us and will hopefully correct the issues before he is in school. My only real concern at this point is other people not being able understand him. I'm not sure what his preschool teacher can decipher and don't want him brushed off with the blank "oh yeah?" when he tries to tell her something. It was getting late by the time I remembered to snap a few pictures of the boys enjoying the day.Ben was heartbroken when it was time to go in and wanted to continue the play date inside. I had to remind him that we would get to see our friends again outside as soon as that fickle Mother Nature decides to grant us another nice day.
