Whew, what an evening. I can not wait for Jeremy to get home in the morning to restore a sense of order.
He has been in Tampa since Thursday and it is apparent that I have been slacking off around here. Toys have not been put away at the end of the day, dishes have been left on the counter longer than usual and laundry has not been folded since he left. I thought about cleaning earlier today, the floors needed to be vacuumed and mopped, but ultimately decided to take the boys over to the pool instead.
The chaos started when we got back and I discovered that Owen had pooped in his swim diaper. I know-ick- but a number two and a wet diaper is a formula for a mess. I cleaned up the little guy and put him in the shower with Ben.
My two sparkling clean boys had an early dinner and since Daddy is not here, I took them out for a treat while I picked up my dinner from a drive thru.
Hi my name is Renee and I am addicted to Sonic. OK-I already feel better.
While making our way to Sonic, Ben decided that he wanted ice cream from Dairy Queen. It was on the way and we did not have any plans for the night so I thought what the heck, I'll make two stops.
I ordered Ben his cone and Owen a small shake. I was nervous that Ben would get ice cream all over the car so I asked the kid at the window for extra napkins. Little did I know that Owen would be the one in need.
As I was waiting on my food to arrive, Owen let out an awful cry. I turned around to see the poor little guy covered in his shake. All the napkins in the restaurant wouldn't have helped to clean up the mess. I stripped him down to his diaper and put a blanket in the car seat so he wouldn't have to sit in it on the way home.
I was trying to get the blasted car seat out of the car when Ben came out to the garage naked to tell me that Owen peed on the floor. Apparently they were ready for the bath that I promised to toss them in to remove the sticky mess and were running around in the buff. I'm so relieved that no one rang the doorbell.
I finally got the car seat out of the car, the boys in the bathtub and ready for bed. I was chatting with my mom, cleaning out said car seat and noticed a wet diaper on the mantle that I did not place there. The tight ship that I usually run had apparently sprang a few leaks. I couldn't help but laugh.
The car is now spotless on the inside and I'm hoping that I finally got rid of the funky smell that has been lingering since our last trip to Illinois. The toys are back in their proper places, and I ended up sweeping and mopping the floors after all.
The holes have been plugged for now...
What a great laugh Renee!!! We do miss our men when they are gone!! I am glad I am not the only one that feels like chaosis is going on and I just have 1 child....and can't imagine when the other 2 arrive!!!
